     Peter S. Resnik

 Chartered Financial Analyst

      Certified Public Account

Peter’s business foundation formed while serving as a corporate executive in the investment management and insurance industry (institutional and consumer) with NYSE companies and a SaaS software platform, as well as his selection to represent management in engagements with top-tier consulting firms such as McKinsey and BCG. Supplemented with professional designations as a CFA and CPA, Peter grasps the worlds of investments and accounting along with their practical impact and holistic integration with strategy, operations and reporting. Successful execution meant interfacing and collaborating at every level with SMEs, staff, division leaders and C-suite executives and with external business partners and service providers. Peter and his teams focused to uncover root issues and procedures with thoughtful inquiry, to develop and execute solutions and to draft and communicate strategies and plans. For example:

  • Rising to Treasurer and Corporate Communications Officer as a charter member of a rapidly growing company with a $10 billion investment portfolio (equity financed by Morgan Stanley merchant banking), Peter transacted more than $500 million in capital raises (including a small-cap NYSE IPO and syndicated debt); developed messaging and created and maintained investor and rating agency relationships and in public affairs; managed a sector portfolio; built the treasury, liquidity, and risk functions; and supported acquisition analysis and integration.

  • As Consulting Practice Leader in a highly-visible unit reporting directly to the COO of a top 5 U.S. healthcare insurance company, he led enterprise-wide turnaround and growth initiatives delivering improved customer outcomes and lower costs through deep analysis and new business models; new fee-based revenue streams through external alliances; and strategic and investment due diligence in a cross-border venture capital opportunity.

  • Recruited directly out of business school, as the first AVP and Director of Planning and Budgets, and later of Sales Administration, within a top 10 NYSE life insurance holding company, he guided executives across all functional divisions in operational business plans, capital allocations, business economics and profit opportunities. Earlier, his career commenced in a highly-selective management training program at a bank that has since been consolidated into a current premier U.S. bank.

In 2001, former colleagues in Peter’s professional network began contacting him for independent engagements, initially on behalf of both private investor groups and a Fortune 100 company subsidiary for acquisition due diligence, distribution expansion and business plan development. Tocqueville Ventures LLC was formed to consult, advise and/or step-in with direct leadership for organizations facing challenges with transition, crisis, launch or striving for the next level of performance. Clients have since also included middle-market, start-up ventures and community nonprofits.

Engagements typically entail serving in specific management responsibilities as CEO, CFO or COO (or as interim). Situations often require rapid assessment, operational stabilization, and disciplined execution. Known for his ability to connect across diverse business environments — from Wall Street to Main Street to the Factory Floor — Peter fosters trusted, collaborative relationships with clients. He invests the time to thoroughly assess each engagement and communicates findings and projections with clarity and respect. His work is largely driven by repeat clients and referrals from clients and professional partners (e.g., law and accounting firms) who value the practical, results-oriented approach of Tocqueville Ventures.

Peter’s leadership extends to volunteer civic service and professional organizations. He has served as an active board member and as board chairs of organizations focused on social services, conservation and community affairs. He is honored to serve currently as Vice-Chair and Treasurer of Bernheim Forest and Arboretum, the largest privately-held forest block in the eastern U.S. and dedicated to conservation, nature, arts and education.
